Erin Marie Furtak is Associate Professor of Science Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. A former high school biology and earth science teacher, Prof. Furtak now studies the teaching of natural selection, formative assessment design and enactment, and how teachers come to adopt new teaching practices in professional learning communities. A winner of the 2011 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Spencer Foundation, the Humboldt Foundation, and the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation.
