This high intensity two day event focuses on deploying, integrating, and using Google Apps for Education (and other Google Tools) to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education.

The program features Google Certified Teachers, Google Apps for Education Certified Trainers, practicing administrators, solution providers, Google engineers, and representatives from the Google education teams.

Nicolette Vander Velde

Classroom Teacher
For over five years, Ms. Vander Velde has taught in a 1:1 linux-based netbook classroom which she has effectively used to support writing instruction, science inquiry, and reading skills development. Serving a population with high poverty and many different languages, Ms. Vander Velde and her colleagues at East Elementary have fused excellent instructional strategies with 21st Century learning to unleash the potential of every student. Nicolette’s classroom was spotlighted in the new book Learning in the Cloud by Mark Warschauer. Ms. Vander Velde has a strong belief around the understanding and training of the Common Core State Standards and therefore is a member of multiple Teacher Leader Cadres and cohorts. In this role, she provides training around the Common Core standards in Mathematics, Language Arts, and 21st Century Skills. She has also been instrumental in the growth of the Inspired Learning Initiative in Littleton Public Schools, a program that trains and supports teachers across the district in technology integration.

Nicolette Vander Velde holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on English as a second language from the University of Northern Colorado, followed by a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and an administrative degree from the University of Phoenix. At the district level, Ms. Vander Velde has presented at the Littleton Public Schools new teacher orientation, focusing on technology implementation and the writer's workshop. She has presented at the Technology in Education Conference at Copper Mountain, at the International Society for Technology in Education at the Denver Convention Center and at the GAFE (Google Apps for Education) Rocky Mountain Summit in Boulder, Colorado.
